Psalms 63 – Fire and Fury

Image
( Psalms 63 ) This is a great Psalm, and Skillet writes a great song here too. I think that David would have written a song like this if he had an electric guitar and full drum set. At least, this Psalm makes me think so. Before you read this, read through the Psalm once on your own. Think about the tone and what David was feeling at that time. Then listen to the song by Skillet and read the Psalm again. Did the tone change? Do you see it in a different light? When I read the Psalm it felt like desperation. Like sad, dying, needing desperation. He mentions being thirsty with no water and things like that. Surely, we have all been in a place where we felt this aching, burning pain that would not stop. Where each step was labored and strained. This Psalm is a great one to read at those times. To know that even David struggled and fought. To know that God is with us. But then, take those words and mix them with the tone of the song, and it’s something entirely diffe...

Ready Set Go - Part II - I Will Go

Now this is an upbeat song that will motivate you to take on giants. I haven’t listened to it a lot like I have with the other songs I’ve written about, but it made me stop what I was doing to think about it. There are so many good quiet, passionate, soft worship songs out there, but there aren’t as many upbeat songs that ignite passion in me. This song, however, was just so simple and true that its point stands firm.

Ready Set Go – Part I – A Painful Freedom

So, I was listening to the Song below, and it made me think of Isaiah 6 where Isaiah is asked who God should send. He replies, I will go. I feel like this song captures this pretty well. However, as I reread Isaiah 6 for this blog, I couldn’t get past the beginning. So, I guess I have to turn this into a couple blogs so that each section can be unpacked.

We talked about the call to arms. To fight beside our lord. We talked about how the enemy attacks those who work for the kingdom. We talked about being in the shadow of death and standing tall because the lord is with us. So, let’s dive into the next verse.

Simple yet Powerful

I don’t know how many of you have seen this skit before, but I thought I’d share it real quick. This is a story most of us know. God loved us, we chose other things over Him, we were deceived, He redeemed us at His cost. We have heard it from day one of Christianity, but I challenge you to not allow it to become stale. Do not allow repetition to sully the power of His love. This is His story. He has been building it from day one.
