Simple yet Powerful

I don’t know how many of you have seen this skit before, but I thought I’d share it real quick.

This is a story most of us know. God loved us, we chose other things over Him, we were deceived, He redeemed us at His cost. We have heard it from day one of Christianity, but I challenge you to not allow it to become stale. Do not allow repetition to sully the power of His love. This is His story. He has been building it from day one.

People often ask, “Why did God give us the option to choose evil when He knew we would?” I have asked it myself. Why did you let us choose this path? The answer is simple. He loved me so much that He wanted the best. He wanted us to love him when there was another option. He wanted us to choose Him. When we didn’t, it broke his heart, but he never gave up. He didn’t order us to love him, but, like a good lover, He courted us until we saw the truth. When we couldn’t escape our sin, He took it on himself.

You must understand that Jesus went through so much more than the physical pain, not that that was anything to laugh at. He, in an instant, felt something He had never felt before. He felt the guilt of every sin ever committed. He felt like a murderer, a child molester, a blasphemer. He took all the hatred and judgement upon himself. This is more than we could even know.

Why did he let this happen? Because, it was required to prove how much He loved us. How far He would go for us. What He would sacrifice to have us. If we were perfect, loving us would be obvious, but to love us in our utter failure is… well, it’s simply Him.
