I Miss You So…

This is a song I hadn’t heard in a while. I remember being introduced to this band by my youth group friend Andrew. Back then I thought it was too boring and not ‘metal’ enough for me. Boy, I really missed it back then.

The lyrics in this song are pretty good, but what I really feel here is the passion with which they are sung. For such a low key, quiet song, there is a deep emotion behind it. I’m going to be honest here and tell you that I cry almost every time I hear it. The passion in each statement of, “I miss you so”, calls to my heart. It becomes my cry to the Lord and I bawl every time.

But, why? Why would I miss him? As a born again Christian, I have his spirit living inside me (Galatians 2:20, Matthew 3:11, 1John 3:24, 2 Timothy 1:14). So I should be fine right. But, the truth is we are only with him in part, for he resides in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6-7, Philippians3:20). His spirit is with us through the Holy Spirit, but there is still more to Him. My soul cries out for more of Him because I was created to be with him (Revelation 3:20, Matthew 28:20, James 4:8, Jeremiah 31:3). I can never have enough.

I’m hoping some of you can relate to me on this one. It seems like every time I worship, I wind up being filled with Him, but also being left wanting more. It’s a strange feeling that really can’t be explained. You have to experience it for yourself. That’s what this song does for me. It just pulls me to Him, and renews my longing for Him. So simple. So pure. I love it.

This really isn’t an instruction, or vision, or inspiration, but rather I just wanted to share the glory of god with you today. Praise with me friends.

“It breaks my heart just to know you in part, not to be with you where you are.”
