Ready Set Go - Part II - I Will Go
Now this is an upbeat song that will motivate you to
take on giants. I haven’t listened to it a lot like I have with the other songs
I’ve written about, but it made me stop what I was doing to think about it.
There are so many good quiet, passionate, soft worship songs out there, but
there aren’t as many upbeat songs that ignite passion in me. This song,
however, was just so simple and true that its point stands firm.
(Isaiah 6:8) Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here
am I. Send me!”
Man, I love this. Read the first part of the chapter.
It’s a bit rough, but Isaiah still says, “Send me”. I hope that hits you like
it does me.
In Part I we talked about the first part of the
chapter. So, now let’s talk about this song.
“Lived so long with my eyes on me. Too deaf to hear,
too blind to see. Broken hearts on the city streets, but I can hear that you’re
calling me to. Be the hope, be the life, be the love right now, starting right
now.”
This is a modern day version of Isaiah’s vision. He
recognizes that he has been wrong. We so often choose to be deaf and blind to
the world around us. Those of you who follow us regularly know that we are
passionate about human trafficking issues. It is the epitome of us being blind
to reality. Homeless veterans, parentless children, abortions, rapes, murders.
Wake up church because it’s all around us. The church used to be a beckon of
hope for these kind of things (Acts 6:1-7). Is this true today? If the church was
on top of this, would Planned Parenthood be so successful? Just something to
think about. The artist in the song wakes up from the slumber and hears the
lord ask who will go to these people. Who will be the hope for these people?
“Oh, you put my life in motion, your love makes me
wanna give my all. Ready set go.”

“So no, I’m not holding back anymore. Like an engine
ready to explode.”
Ahh, there it is. After being motivated, he now
declares his plan. The love of Christ builds up inside of him until he cannot
contain it. He is beyond turning back and now must make a difference.
The second verse is a continuation of this theme. He
mentions that time is short and there are so many lost and hurting people. He
pledges to follow God and reach out to the least of these. Nothing new here but
a great way to restate what he’s saying in a new way.
Then there is a sweet breakdown where Capitol Kings
comes in with some rap and dubstep sound. Woo. I think it sounds great. They
are saying the same thing, but it’s new and great.
That’s pretty much it for the contents of the song.
See what I mean, it’s simple and easy to follow, but it speaks to the basics of
what we are supposed to do. We should be so deep in the lord that we can’t help
but reach out to those around us. I’ll be honest with you. There was a time
when I used to say, “I want to help people, but I don’t really know what to do.
How do you find people with needs?” The thing is, the closer I got to the Lord
the more I saw these opportunities. He told me he wanted to free me from the
grip of financial fear. He asked for me to give money in random places over and
over again. He showed me how he would provide when I gave more than I had. I
began to see people’s needs more and more, and I always found something to give
them. I was always available. Almost like God was giving me more so that I could
take care of them while someone else took care of me. It was, and is,
beautiful.
I think I’ll cut this one off here, but take a look at
part I. If we get a grip on that and go deeper with the lord, then it will be
easy to see and meet the needs of the least of these. As we should be.
All for his glory my friends.
